This course develops proficiency with shotguns for self-defense scenarios. The course covers the fundamentals of shotgun handling, including proper grip, stance, and aiming techniques, while teaching students how to efficiently operate the shotgun under stress. Key skills include rapid target acquisition, shooting with both buckshot and slugs, and transitioning between targets at different ranges. The class emphasizes tactical reloads, malfunction clearing, and shooting from various positions such as standing, kneeling, and behind cover.

Shotgun 1
A defensive style shotgun, semi auto or pump action, ghost rings or red dot sights recommended
A Independence Range Waiver must be completed before class begins

Handgun & Ammunition:
Semi auto or pump defensive shotgun, 20 rounds of buck shot, 5 round of slug, ghost sites or red dot recommended

Note Taking Material:
Paper & Pen is Recommended

Snacks & Drink:
Just in the Classroom

Open toed shoes, shorts, and low-cut tops should be avoided due to the chance of hot casings or debris touching the skin.

An AR-15 is the recommended platform for this class, other calibers in the platform can be used. Sound and break mitigation devices are recommended.
