Course Description 

Intro to Competitive Shooting 

This introductory class offers a look at competitive shooting, discussing events like USPSA matches and NRA bullseye shooting. The class enables students to understand scoring systems, course strategies, and competition etiquette. This class is taught by experienced competitive shooters that want to help new participants understand the sporting shooting experience. They also explain how matches are run, recommended gear, and offer tips to go into it with confidence. Students will be equipped with the knowledge to quickly excel in both fast-paced practical shooting and precision marksmanship competitions.

Course Curriculum

Introduces competitive shooting with a focus on both USPSA and NRA bullseye disciplines.

Emphasizes essential firearm safety protocols.

Explains scoring systems, course strategies, and competition etiquette.

Provides tips on gear, marksmanship, and training ideas to help with competition. 

Time in the class to ask questions with a match participant or director.

Anyone that enjoys shooting and has any interested in sports/competitive shooting. 

Anyone that wants to be better at self-defense and wants to improve their skills and marksmanship in a sporting scenario. 

Anyone looking for a new recreational activity.

Prerequisites 

18-years-old and older is recommended.

Youth Participation Policy

  1. Age Requirement

    • Any student under the age of 18 who enrolls in a firearms class or event at Independence Indoor Shooting Academy must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

  2. Parental/Guardian Presence

    • The parent or legal guardian is required to remain with the student for the entire duration of the class or event, including both classroom and range portions.

  3. Responsibility

    • The parent or legal guardian must ensure the student complies with all Academy rules, safety protocols, and instructor directions.

    • The Academy reserves the right to dismiss any student (and their guardian) who fails to adhere to these requirements.
