If you do not have a case for your firearm, we have several that you can use while at our range, just ask a representative at our "Range Check-In" counter. We also have several rental firearms that you can experience in case you want to try something new or bring a friend that does not own a gun.

No, shooting at Independence is open to the public. Anyone legally allowed to handle firearms is welcome to participate out our facility. • Can I shoot at your range if I'm from another state/country?
Our range is open to the public and we do allow people from all over the world to shoot at our range. All we ask is that you fill out our waiver, provide a photo ID, and follow our safety rules.
  • May I use your rental guns with my ammo?
Unfortuanatly you have to use factory new ammo in our rental guns at Independence. We ask that when you shoot our guns, you shoot our ammo. This is the only way we can make sure the ammunition used in our rental guns is factory new manufactured. We have seen even factory remanufactured ammunition damage firearms.
  • What is the best way to get an update on my work order?
The gunsmiths are very busy working on firearms and helping customers. They are not always available by phone. The best way to request an update on your work order is by "Asking Our Gunsmiths" link on our website on our gunsmith pages, or by emailing gunsmithing@iishooting.com. We try and answer these emails every business day at the start of business.
  • What do I need to drop off a firearm and how to pick it up when it's completed?
When you drop off a firearm to get worked on with our gunsmith, it will be entered into a bound book so that we can legally take temporary possession of it. You will need a legal ID to drop off the firearm. When the firearm is picked up it has to be the same person that dropped it off and a legal ID will be required again. If you need to have someone else pick up the firearm they will be required to complete a 4473 to take possession of the firearm.
  • What do I need to do to prepare my firearm to be worked on?
FIRST MAKE SURE YOU FIREARM IS UNLOADED! We require all firearms to be brought in with a case. A case will ensure the firearm is stored with all its parts and protected while in the shop.
  • Why might my work order take longer then expected?
We don't quote completion times because there are several variables that can affect how long a work order may take to complete. We complete work orders based on three variables in this order: first in first out, when the next batch of like work is scheduled, and when parts that may be needed will arrive from suppliers. The most common delay is typically waiting for parts that may be broken, missing, or need to be replaced. Parts can take from a couple days to a couple months depending on the availability and manufacturing of parts. Please be patient with the process but feel free to follow up when you have any concerns by emailing gunsmithing@iishooting.com
  • How to bring in suppressors or NFA items on a work order?
Suppressors or NFA items must be accompanied with a copy of the ATF/NFA approved tax stamp document. These items will be checked in and checked out with the same requirements as a firearm.
