Course Description 

For Victims of Domestic Abuse 

Domestic violence is a difficult topic for multiple reasons. It’s nearly impossible to comprehend how abuse affects a person mentally, physically and emotionally. It can be deeply painful and embarrassing to discuss. Finding a way to move forward from abuse of any kind can be overwhelming. Learning to defend yourself is often a key part of healing. And that’s where personal and private self-defense training at Independence can help.

Course Curriculum

Time taken to evaluate the concerns and potential situations that would help the student feel safer and empowered. 

Instruction that reviews several options, both lethal and non-lethal, for self defense.  

Training and drills that are appropriate for the comfort of the student. 

A comprehensive review of the training and recommendations for additional training to foster healing, empowerment, and protection.

Prerequisites 

18-years-old and older is recommended. Under 18 years old must be accompanied by a legal guardian

An Independence Range Waiver must be completed before class begins

Open toed shoes, shorts, and low-cut tops should be avoided due to the chance of hot casings or debris touching the skin. 

No gun? No problem! Let your instructor know you will need to use one of our guns, and we will take care of it for you at no cost (ammo will need to be purchased separately, though.). We will do our best to set you up with a gun that is appropriate for your specific needs.
