Course Description
Rifle 1
Rifle 1 is a fundamentals course for shooters seeking to master the operation and use of rifles for hunting, sport, or precision shooting. This course focuses on building a strong foundation in firearm safety, marksmanship, and rifle mechanics. Students will gain a solid understanding of caliber selection, the proper way to mount a scope, a brief summary of optic use, shooting fundamentals and positions, and how to zero in a rifle at 100 yards.

Loading, Unloading, and Firing Safely

How to mount, zero, and adjust rifle scopes for accurate shooting
Basics of range estimation, wind calls, and shooting at extended distances

Prerequisites
Strongly recommend students bring their own rifle, scope and rings UNINSTALLED and 20 rounds of ammunition. If the student is waiting to purchase a rifle to setup after class, the student will be provided a rifle, but will be required to purchase 20 rounds of ammunition.
Anyone under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult also enrolled in the course.
A Independence Range Waiver must be completed before class begins.

Open toed shoes, shorts, and low-cut tops should be avoided due to the chance of hot casings or debris touching the skin.

No gun? No problem! Let your instructor know you will need to use one of our guns, and we will take care of it for you at no cost (ammo will need to be purchased separately, though.). We will do our best to set you up with a gun that is appropriate for your specific needs.
