Course Description

Demystifying Optics

This class teaches students all about scopes for rifles down to a practical understanding of rifle magnified optics and developing a high level of competence for making consumer choices. This class introduces and explains common terminology and nomenclature relative to scopes. Some common questions like - “How does a scope really work?” “What is better, Mils or MOA?” “Why are some scopes made with one-inch main tubes and why are some 30 or 34mm?” “Will a larger objective lens make my view brighter?”- are answered. Tips to choosing which scope rings/mounts are presented along with the opportunity to see a scope mounted, leveled, and torqued.
