RICK THEILEN
INSTRUCTOR

Rick Theilen has spent a lifetime around firearms—starting nearly 70 years ago when his father, a Camp Perry Champion, handed him a Winchester Model 67 Jr. in .22 caliber. By age 12, Rick was hunting with a Springfield 03A3 in .30-06, which he customized under his father’s guidance as a gunsmith.
Rick began competitive shooting in high school, participating in NRA indoor leagues and later DCM (now CMP) matches. In the early 1980s, he discovered USPSA Action Shooting and was instantly hooked. Over the next four decades, he competed in multiple divisions, including Three Gun, training alongside some of the top shooters in the world.
In 2012, Rick became a certified NRA Instructor while volunteering as a Merit Badge Counselor for a Scout troop. He joined a professional training company soon after, where he taught a wide range of students—from first-time shooters to law enforcement officers. Rick continues to refine his skills through advanced training with Special Forces, SWAT, and law enforcement professionals.
Rick specializes in dynamic shooting skills for both self-defense and competition. His passion lies in helping others build confidence, skill, and safety with firearms—always aiming to help each student become the best shooter they can be.
