IDAHO ENHANCED
CONCEALED CAR
RY

Disclaimer: The purpose of the Enhanced Concealed Carry (ECC) course is to educate students in Idaho law as well as train them how to responsibly carry a concealed firearm, not to develop deep combat proficiency. Therefore, prior to taking the ECC course, it would benefit all students to enroll in training that introduces them to fundamental shooting practices; this is not a shooting class. Such skills are taught in depth in our Basic Pistol courses. Students should also continue training even after participating in the ECC course.

Class Description:

This course satisfies the requirements of Idaho Code 18-3302K, enabling students to apply for an Idaho Enhanced Concealed Carry Permit as well as an Oregon Concealed Carry Permit (Those who would like to obtain the Oregon CHL must do so in person and this will be discussed in class).

Students enrolled in this course will:

  • Learn the laws pertaining to armed self-defense in Idaho.

  • Learn where the Enhanced Concealed Carry Permit is recognized and where it is not, including state reciprocity.

  • Understand the responsibilities attached to an individual who chooses to carry a concealed firearm and the legal, moral, and financial ramifications behind using a firearm for self defense.

  • Discuss myths and misconceptions regarding use of deadly force

  • Alternate methods of defense

Additional course topics include:

  • What kind of pistol to carry, how to carry it, and why

  • Situational awareness and confrontation avoidance

  • Adopting a defensive mindset

  • Strategies and responses to an attack

  • Psychological processes prior to, during, and after an armed encounter

  • Legal processes prior to, during, and after an armed encounter

  • Basic shooting fundamentals

Students will participate in a 100 round standardized course of fire. This course of fire is not timed and has been adopted by our academy as a basic tool to measure a student's proficiency. It also allows the student to identify what skills they need to hone, allowing them to carry and use a firearm with confidence.

Students are encouraged to bring a notebook, snacks, and drinks for the classroom portion of this course (We do have vending machines, but options are fairly limited). Food and drink is not allowed on the range.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive a signed training certificate. Directions on how to apply will be given during class.
